The farm services agency location in Keokuk County will be offering limited services while they repair their facilities from flood damage. According to Keokuk County FSA County Executive Director Amy Krapfl, when staff arrived to work on March 14th they were welcomed with about two inches of sewer water. The flood was a result of a blockage in the sewer line in front of the building.
Krapfl explains how the damage has affected day to day operations, “Since then, we’ve had an information crew come through to test our computers and phone lines and thankfully several of our computers have not been damaged. We just got internet services, as well as phone services. So we have about three computers that we’re operating off of and three phone lines.”
Clean up efforts are underway as they will have to replace damaged equipment, repair drywall, re-paint, and install new carpet. Until the Keokuk County FSA is back to full strength, the farm loan program staff will be operating at the Washington County Farm Service Agency. Commodity support questions and services can be handled at the Sigourney office. And the Natural Resources Conservation Service and the Iowa Department of Agriculture will have limited staff and services at the local Sigourney service center. Krapfl estimates they should be back to full strength in 6-8 weeks. For a full list of contact information, visit this story at KCIIRadio.com
