The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls track and field team ventured outdoors for the first time in the 2019 season Thursday when they traveled to the Mapleleaf Athletic Complex in Mount Pleasant.
Against a stout field the Golden Hawks recorded four event championships on the night, Amber Swart was the winner in the 100m dash in 13.11 seconds. Marie Hostetler took the 1500 in 4:54.36, Tori Boyse won the discus with a throw of 117’3″ and the Golden Hawk 4×800 team of Mitzi, Abbagail, and Angelina Evans and Marie Hostetler were winners in 10:12.61.
Other top finishes for the Hawks included second place for Kessa Jones in the 400 hurdles, a second for the distance medley team of Swart, Cassidy Rourke, and Abbagail and Mitzi Evans. Third for Boyse in the shot put, third for the 4×100 team of Swart, Rourke, Maddie Edgington and Rylee Vercande and third for the 4×400 team of Mitzi, Angelina and Abbagail Evans and Sarah Meader. Fourth for Marie Hostetler in the 800 and fourth for the 4×200 team of Vercande, Rourke, Edgington and Karsen Jehle.
