The Washington County Conservation Board is moving forward with adding a campground host position for Marr Park this summer. The board tried to implement a volunteer program last year before it was shut down due to a liability issue as the host wouldn’t be paid, but would still be considered an employee. This year the WCCB would offer a free campsite as well as $100 a week to the host.
According to WCCB Director Zach Rozmus, the host would be considered a contractor, thus would not receive benefits that a conservation employee would be entitled to. Rozmus has been working with Washington County Attorney John Gish on the wording of the contract. Some of the roles of the campground host would be keeping the campgrounds clean, assisting campers get registered, and answer any questions that campers may have.
The contract was approved 4-0 by the WCCB. Applications are now being accepted.
