Area businesses are invited to observe classes in the Washington Community School District. In the past teachers of the district have gone to area businesses to observe workplaces during professional development, and this year the district is hosting a Reverse Workplace Visit. Washington Community School District Curriculum Director Veta Thode says the goal is to build bridges between the schools and the businesses in the community, “I would say the goal is we want people to come in and see what’s going on, and just continue to build that bridge between our community, and our workplaces in the community, and our schools. We have so many great supporters, unbelievable supporters for events that we have, for drives that we do in the buildings. And it’s also a way of, you know, having them come in, and kind of almost like a thank you, and embracing the collaboration between the community and the schools.”
Community members can select which school they’d like to visit and what type of classroom. The visits will be held on April 15th with a session from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and another from 2 to 3 p.m. To sign up for the event click here for more information or contact the district’s central office.
