Teachers and administrators at Mid-Prairie will now be incentivised to submit their resignation sooner. At Monday’s meeting, the school board approved a policy that would give teachers who submit their resignation before April 16th a $500 bonus. Superintendent Mark Schneider introduced the policy in March. Schneider said the pool of teachers to hire is becoming tighter, so this would give them a head start on finding quality replacements.
The policy will go into effect this year. Next year there will be two tiers of incentives, one for employees who turn in their notices before April 1st, then another smaller bonus for those who inform the district between April 1st and April 15th. The board will select the amount of the two bonuses annually. The superintendent, any retiring staff, or extra curricular coaches are not eligible for this bonus.
