New hardware will be decorating the KCII office with awards from the Iowa Broadcast News Association.

At Saturday’s convention and awards ceremony in Johnston, Sally Hart and Brandon Shanahan were awarded first place for Best Newscast. Hart also took first place in Public Affairs for a program with Washington County Public Health Administrator Danielle Pettit-Majewski about RSV and Hart’s daughter being hospitalized. In the Farm and Agribusiness News category Hart received an honorable mention for a program about the ISU Veterinary Laboratory, and first place for a program called “Holmes Helps Livestock Transport” about local people helping livestock owners in the Carolinas following a hurricane. In the In-Depth Series category Hart received second place for a series about Saving Brinton and The Pines. The KCII staff also received awards for sound and actuality, sports coverage, and play-by-play in sports.
