The Washington Demon boys track team brought home the hardware with a team title at Tuesday’s Mid-Prairie boys relays in Wellman. The Demons had three championship events on the night with Ethan Hunt winning the 400 hurdles in 55.74 seconds, Kasen Bailey taking the high jump clearing 5’11” and Spencer Sotelo the long jump with a leap of 20′.5″. Other top finishes for the Demons included Cade Hennigan second in the 110 hurdles, Lincoln Kleese second in the long jump, Mitchell Driscoll second in the 400 and second for the shuttle hurdle team. Lance Sobaski was third in the 3200 and the Demon sprint medley team was also third. After the meet, Washington head coach Steve Roth talked about the night. “It’s outstanding to win the meet. We don’t really try to win the meet, we just put events together and if everything clicks you are going to score points. It’s nice for these guys they’ve worked hard. I thought Ethan Hunt looked outstanding in the 400 hurdles. He’s just getting better and better and the team is following. The 4×100 was 72nd (in the Drake standings) going into today and we ran a little faster. It’s important for us to be able to run that at Drake. Overall I’m happy, we PR’d in a lot of events.”
Mid-Prairie had one championship event on the night with the sprint medley team taking gold. Other top finishes for the Golden Hawks included second for Miles Burrows in the 400 hurdles, third for Grant Boyse in the 400, third for the 4×100 team and third for the 4×800 team.
