The 110th annual Drake Relays got underway on Thursday and a few KCII area athletes competed on the Blue Oval.
Mid-Prairie standout Marie Hostetler had another strong showing placing 2nd in the 3000m run with a time of 9:55.26. Ashlyn Keeney of Iowa City Liberty won the title in 9:39.64. Highland’s Emily Yahnke was the other area participant placing 11th in the long jump with a leap of 16’10’’.
Sigourney will feature area athletes today at the Blue Oval with Payton Schauf competing in the boys’ discus at 9 a.m. this morning and Summer Barthelman will run in the girls 400m dash at 6:49 p.m. For updates on the Drake Relays visit kciiradio.com.
