National Nurses Week runs through the end of the weekend. The week dedicated to appreciating the special work nurses do started on Monday with National Nurses Day. We have many outstanding and hard working nurses in our area. Including Riverside resident Janice Tener who was named one of Iowa’s 100 great nurses of 2019. She currently serves as the nurse manager of the dialysis program at the University of Iowa Hospital. Tener told KCII News that recognition is great, but her real goal is to be able to help people, “I take pride in just being able to help other people, and getting to know the patients and getting to know their story, and helping them through a challenging time to get back to the best possible home life they can have” The weeklong tradition was started by the American Nurses Association in 1993 to recognize the contributions and impact of America’s four million registered nurses.
