Finishing in the top two at conference earlier in the week, Washington boys’ golfers Brock Sobaski and Brady Knutson let the good times roll into Thursday’s class 3A sectional in Burlington, as both advanced to the district meet.

The Demons fell five strokes short of moving on as a team placing fourth out of seven with 353 strokes in the 18-hole meet. Mount Pleasant won the event with 318 strokes while Burlington/Notre Dame and Centerville also advanced with scores of 343 and 348, respectively. Sobaski placed third overall with 77 strokes while Mount Pleasant’s Trace White and Burlington/Notre Dame’s Matt Briggs shared the sectional crown with 74. Knutson tied for eighth with 80. The duo advanced because their rounds were the two lowest out of team’s that did not advance. Other Demon scores included John Prohaska 97, Grant Sobaski 99, and Caleb Tanner 106.

Sobaski and Knutson will compete at the district meet on Thursday in Oskaloosa.
