A Mt. Pleasant man has been sentenced to nearly 11 years in prison for child pornography charges. The U.S. District Court sentenced 31-year-old Sean Michael Kinard to 130 months of imprisonment after he plead guilty to receipt of child pornography. He was also ordered to serve eight years of supervised release after his prison term and to pay $100 to the Crime Victims’ Compensation Fund. Kinard will also have to pay each of the 13 victims $2,000 in restitution. On January 14th he plead guilty, after using a file sharing program to distribute and receive images of child pornography on the internet between 2016 and 2018. During that time, he collected over 20,000 images containing child pornography and 425 videos, according to court documents. The incident was investigated by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
