Iowa’s farmers statewide saw a slight drop in cash rental rates for tillable acres or corn and soybeans going from $222 to $219. The 2019 Cash Rental Rates for Iowa Survey is distributed by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach to farmers, landowners, agricultural lenders, and professional farm managers. In District 9, which includes Washington, Keokuk, Jefferson, Henry, Louisa, Des Moines, Lee, Van Buren, Mahaska, Wapello and Davis Counties, the overall average of typical cash rents increased from last year. The increase went from $203 in 2018 to $210 in 2019, although it is below the 2015 rate of $217. In 2019, of the nine districts in Iowa, District 9 had the third lowest cash rental rate for corn and soybean acres. The highest was $239 in northeast Iowa.
