The Washington girls’ golf team anticipated 18-holes of golf Tuesday on the first day of the class 3A state golf meet in Ankeny, but Mother Nature had other plans, as play was suspended halfway through. Kiki Guo’s scorecard reads just two holes of action, as she shot a one over par 9 that puts her in a tie for second. Ellie Braksiek had a par on the only hole she got in to put her in the lead. Other Demons with recorded scores include Josie Tanner +4 through one hole and Emma Nichols +16 through five. Washington is tied for fourth as a team in the limited action.
Wednesday sets up for a long day, as every golfer will finish the first round and go straight into another 18-holes to close out the tournament. Tee time is set for 8:30 a.m. this morning at Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny.
