The Highland baseball team was edged by the slightest of margins to Pekin on Thursday night falling 7-6.

The Huskies’ Cael Yeggy and Cory Stewart each had a RBI in the top of the first but the Panthers answered right back with four runs in the bottom half. Both teams traded scores the next two innings before Highland took a 6-5 lead in the fourth on a two RBI double from Dan Burton. Once again the lead was short lived, as Pekin nabbed two runs in the bottom half that proved to be the difference. Despite manufacturing 16 free passes at the plate the Huskies could only muster up five hits led by Burton’s 2-for-5 night. Brady Hahn took the loss on the bump throwing 4 1/3 innings giving up just two hits and two runs.

Highland dropped to 1-1 on the year.
