It was a business trip down south for the Washington baseball team on Monday night, as they traveled to face Keokuk and the Demons went home with two more wins on their resume.

As heard on KCII, game one was a dogfight with both teams going back-and-forth before Washington held on for a 10-6 victory. The Demons trailed 2-1 in the third when they took the lead on a two RBI single from Luke Turner. The lead grew to 7-2 in the fourth in part by a two-run double by Wilx Witthoft, but the Chiefs took advantage of four walks and three wild pitches to plate four runs of their own in the bottom half. With a 7-6 advantage heading into the final frame, the Demons got much needed insurance thanks to RBI singles from Turner and Cade Hennigan. Turner finished 3-for-4 with four RBI and also kept the Chiefs bats at bay in the final three innings giving up no runs, no hits, and walking three on the bump.

There was no letdown in game two for the road team, as Washington put up a few crooked numbers offensively and threw a no-hitter en route to a 22-0 shellacking in five innings. The Demons brought 14 batters to the plate in the first inning and scored nine runs headlined by a two RBI hit from Brady Knutson. They tacked on two in the third, three in the fourth, before exploding for eight more in the fifth to leave no doubt. Trevor Quigley finished 3-for-5 with two runs knocked in. Chase McDole, Mitchell Driscoll, and Lucas Kroll combined for the five-inning no-hitter giving up just two walks on the evening.

Washington improves to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the Southeast Conference. They get back on the diamond Thursday hosting Mount Pleasant.
