The Iowa Mennonite School softball team has had a tough start to the week, dropping games to Wapello and Winfield-Mt. Union. On Monday, the Arrows beat IMS by a 15-2 score in six innings. The Arrows held a 2-0 lead before exploding for six runs in the third. They would score five more times in the sixth to put the game out of reach. The runs for IMS came with single tallies in the third and fifth innings. Suzanna Yoder hit her first home run of the season and Mia Graber was two of three at the plate. Leah Bontrager took the loss, going four and two thirds innings, while surrendering nine hits and 14 runs while walking eight.

Tuesday night Winfield-Mt. Union got the better of IMS in Kalona with a 6-2 win. The Wolves started out hot scoring two in the first and three in the second to take a 5-0 lead. That advantage would grow to 6-0 with a single run in the top of the fourth before IMS answered with a pair in the bottom half to get within 6-2, but Madie Anderson closed the door in the circle for WMU to record the win, going all seven innings, allowing four hits, two runs, walking one and striking out a dozen. Keetyn Townsley led the Wolves with three hits and a pair of runs scored. Anna Anderson had two hits and drove in three. With the win, Winfield-Mt. Union is now 5-1 on the year, IMS falls to 0-4.
