It’s been a brutal stretch of games for the Winfield-Mt. Union softball team in the last couple weeks and the Wolves headed into a weekend off with a 6-0 win over Pekin on Thursday.
Fresh off of a 13 inning loss to Wapello the night prior, the Wolves wasted no time getting the bats going scoring two in the first and one more in the third. They continued to add on late that proved to be more than enough for sophomore pitcher Madie Anderson, who threw a complete game three-hitter striking out 12 and walking two. She also helped herself at the plate going 2-for-4 with two RBI and Anna Anderson added a pair of hits with one run knocked in.
With the win WMU improves to 11-5 on the season. This is the first multiple days rest for the Wolves since the start of the month and they will get back at it Monday seeking revenge against Wapello.
