Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained steady at 2.4% in May. The rate is down slightly from 2.6% last May. The number of unemployed Iowans in May increased by 400 to 40,700. At the same time, the total number of working Iowans increased by 3,200 from April to May with 1,673,400 Iowans employed. According to Iowa Workforce Development, monthly job gains in May were relatively light and led by financial activities with 700 and an addition of 600 education services jobs. Construction also advanced by 600 jobs last month.
