midprairie-3

The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball team scored a River Valley Conference win Monday in Kalona over visiting Bellevue by an 8-1 score. In a game heard on AM and FM KCII, the Golden Hawks jumped out early with three runs in the first inning against Bellevue starter Alyssa Manders with Abbi Patterson, Rylee Vercande and Lanie Bowlin all scoring runs. The Golden Hawks added two more in the third when Karsen Jehle drove in Cassidy Rourke and Bowlin with an RBI single. In the fourth, Rourke made it to 7-1 with one swing of the bat, belting a two run homer to left. The Hawks would add one more in the sixth when Kylee Kos drove in Rourke with a double. All of that offense was more than enough for Rourke in the circle who threw a complete game in the circle allowing one run and scattering nine hits. With the win the Golden Hawks are 7-14 on the year.
