In a rare doubleheader that had them play two different teams on a weeknight, the Sigourney baseball team did something that has been not so rare to them. Win. The Savages won their sixth and seventh straight game on Monday sweeping their competition by a combined 24-1 score.

Early in the day Sigourney had a make-up game with South Iowa Cedar League foe Tri-County and took care of business 13-0. The Savages scored in each of the first four innings including six in the fourth that led to the shortened game. The team had 10 hits led by Brock Halleran going 2-for-2 with two runs scored and Brett Striegel brought home four runs. Josh Mohr threw a two-hitter in the five innings to capture the win.

Later that evening, Winfield-Mt. Union came to town for an area battle and Sigourney came out on top 11-1 in six innings. The game was scoreless through three when the Savages broke out for five in the fourth, two in the fifth, and four more in the sixth for the victory. Mohr had a multi-hit game going 2-for-3 and Striegel continued to be a RBI machine, as he knocked in three more runs. The senior also went four innings on the bump giving up just one hit and no earned runs.

Sigourney improves to 14-5 and they travel to Riverside to face Highland this evening.
