Fireworks will be exploding tonight, but the Washington offense exploded on Tuesday in a dominating baseball doubleheader sweep of West Burlington by a combined 32-5 score.

In game one the Demons broke out for 10 runs in the first, eight in the second, and one more in the third to pick up a 19-1 win in four innings. Luke Turner was zoned in at the dish going 3-for-3 with five RBI including his first home run of the season on a three run shot in the first. Kole Hinrichsen continued to roll on the bump giving up just one hit in the four innings and striking out eight. The senior also added a pair of hits with three RBI at the plate.

In the nightcap the Demons got out to a quick 6-0 lead through three frames, but the Falcons showed some life with four tallies to cut the deficit to 6-4. Ethan Patterson came in to relieve Turner on the mound and held West Burlington scoreless the rest of the way en route to a 13-4 victory. The 8thgrader dealt the final 3 2/3 innings without giving up a hit, which is an encore performance from 6 2/3 innings of perfect ball last week in a win against Keokuk. Brandon Dickel helped the Demons pull away with a 2-for-2 performance and two RBI.

Washington improves to 15-7 and they duel with Mid-Prairie tomorrow in a game that can be heard on FM 106.1 KCII.
