The City of Kalona has proclaimed next week Museum Week in light of the 50th anniversary of the Kalona Historical Society.

During Monday’s city council meeting, Mayor Ken Herrington made the proclamation that July 8-12 will be recognized by the city as Museum Week. Managing Director for the Kalona Historical Society Nancy Roth said she wanted to replicate the proclamation that was made at this time 50 years ago, “We found an article in the paper that the mayor from 50 years ago designated a week for Museum Week. So we wanted to follow that tradition by having Mr. Mayor sign a proclamation similar to how they had it years ago.”

During Museum Week, the Kalona Historical Society will have special activities and themed days to celebrate the museum’s milestone.
