Iowa’s farmers in the last week have been harvesting hay, spraying fields, and still planting crops. According to the USDA, corn conditions in Iowa improved to 64% good to excellent. Iowa’s soybean crop is over two weeks behind the five-year average with 97% of the expected crop planted. In southeast Iowa, 80% of soybeans have emerged. At this time last year, 100% of Iowa’s soybeans had emerged.
