Home schooled students from area districts will be able to continue using resources from the Mid-Prairie Home School Assistance Program.

At the recent school board meeting, three 28E sharing agreements were approved with Clear Creek Amana, English Valleys and Williamsburg School Districts for home school services. The agreement is the same as the one approved last year. With this agreement, 69 students from the three districts received services from the Mid-Prairie HSAP last school year. Business Manager Jeff Swartzentruber calls the agreement “win-win” as the three districts are able to receive full-time equivalent funding, which is a formula that uses the state’s per-pupil rate to calculate funding, and Mid-Prairie bills each district 75% of that to cover their costs. The students are still under the umbrella of their home district so they can participate in arts and athletics, but receive home school services from Mid-Prairie. The board approved the agreement unanimously.

The HSAP currently serves approximately 400 students from the area.
