Nearly $3,000 was raised through an art auction for two Washington nonprofits. The fifth annual LET’s Center for the Healing and Creative Arts Totally Tubular Transformation art auction raised $2,720. Local artists paint and decorate old water softener tubes, reusing something old and making it a piece of artwork. That artwork is then put on display during the annual Gallery Walk in downtown Washington and auctioned off on the bandstand. This year LET’s partnered with Hospice of Washington County, so proceeds will be split evenly among the two nonprofit organizations. The highest selling artwork was a mosaic peacock created by Kate Glinsmann and sold for $275.
