A judge from Fairfield has been selected to interview for a vacancy on the Iowa Court of Appeals.

District Court Judge Myron Gookin will be one of the 16 candidates to meet with the State Judicial Nominating Commission. The seat has been open since July 1st when Judge Gayle Vogel retired. After the interviews are held on Monday, the commission will select three nominations to send to Governor Kim Reynolds. From there, Governor Reynolds will choose who will fill the vacancy. Gookin was one of six nominations for the Court of Appeals earlier this year after Chief Judge David Danilson retired and Judge Christopher McDonald left to serve on the Iowa Supreme Court.
