Drought conditions have spread in Iowa in the last week. The amount of the Hawkeye State that is abnormally dry doubled to 23.5%. The abnormally dry areas can be found mostly in eastern Iowa. Sections of the KCII listening area are included in the abnormally dry conditions including the eastern two-thirds of Washington County, the northeastern half of Henry County, the eastern third of Iowa County, and all of Louisa and Johnson Counties. At this time last year, 4.2% of the state was in severe drought, 11.2% was in moderate drought, and 26.12% was abnormally dry. Mostly sunny skies and dry conditions are in the forecast for Washington for the next week.
