Iowa’s soil conditions are growing short on moisture. Iowa State Climatologist Justin Glisan says Iowa is seeing unseasonable dryness. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, both topsoil and subsoil moisture levels got drier over the last week. In southeast Iowa, topsoil moisture is rated at 54% adequate, 39% short, and seven percent is very short. Subsoil moisture in the district is rated at two percent surplus, 68% adequate, 28% short, and two percent very short. Mostly sunny skies are in the forecast for Washington with a chance for rain or thunderstorms Monday.
