The Iowa Girls Coaches Association recently released the All-State teams for softball and plenty of KCII area athletes were recognized.
Headlining the selections in class 1A included Sigourney’s Megan Stuhr and Winfield-Mt. Union’s Madie Anderson being named to the third team. Stuhr’s .535 batting average was seventh in the state and she also knocked in 23 runs for the Savages. Anderson was electric in the circle in her sophomore campaign, as she posted a 1.84 ERA in 163 1/3 innings of work. WMU’s Keetyn Townsley and Lone Tree’s Arlie Lorack were recognized for honorable mention. Townsley led the Wolves offense in just her 8th grade season with a .349 batting average and 15 stolen bases. The freshman Lorack turned some heads with a .516 batting average for the Lions. In class 2A Highland’s Abbie Miller was selected as honorable mention. The senior broke many career school records and was seventh in the state with 47 RBI this season.
Winfield-Mt. Union’s Liana Sweezer was the lone area softball player to be named Academic All-State.
