Mid-Prairie is hosting an open house Monday so parents and students can get to know the transportation staff and bus drivers who will be responsible for taking them to and from school.

All parents and students are invited to meet their bus driver for the upcoming year, as well as get familiarized with the process. Transportation Director Teresa Hartley says it’s important for students to be comfortable with their bus driver, “We tell our kids to never be around strangers or go with strangers, but yet we put them on the bus for the first time and they don’t have a clue who’s behind the wheel or who they’re with. So at least having the face to know they’re not a stranger and that it’s okay on that bus. Buses aren’t scary but to them it is. So knowing at least one person on that bus can help a lot for the students themselves.” Parents should have also received a packet in the mail with rules to pass along to their children. This is an opportunity to ask any questions about rules or expectations going into the school year.

The open house will be in the Mid-Prairie High School Cafetiera Monday from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
