Drought conditions in Iowa have spread in the last week. According to the National Weather Service, 36.4% of Iowa is abnormally dry. Last week, 23.5% of the Hawkeye State was abnormally dry. The abnormally dry conditions include all of Washington, Iowa, Johnson, Louisa and Henry Counties, along with the northeastern halves of Jefferson and Keokuk Counties. At this time last year 33.6% of Iowa was abnormally dry, 11.56% was in moderate drought, 4.2% was in severe drought, and just under one percent was in extreme drought.
