For the City of Washington the fiscal year expenses were behind budget with the only exception being the General Fund. Finance Director for the City Kelsey Brown presented the year end financial report at the recent Washington City Council meeting. She said the city is under budget as a whole, “We ended the year behind budget for revenue in the airport fund due to lack of fuel revenue, and the water, sewer, and sanitation funds due to charges for services. But we were ahead of budget for revenue in the General Fund because of interest, and the road use fund due to road use taxes.” For the fiscal year the city was over in certain areas including wages, vehicle operations, utilities, and operational equipment repairs. Public safety functions were over budget due to the police overtime wages. The City ended June with a month-end balance of $9,832,944.
