Thursday, history was made at the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort as they opened their brand new Elite Sportsbook on the first day of legal sports wagering in the state of Iowa. The facility was built in anticipation of this development a year ago during a remodel of the original resort. Dan Franz, general manager of the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort, talked with KCII news about the experience they hope to provide players. “You want people to have a place where they can come and enjoy themselves with a bigger crowd. You can come here, get some food, get some drink and be part of that experience. We also provide the ability to come here, make bets and give that game a little extra excitement.”

The space offers a full bar, restaurant area, televisions, food service, and more. The grand opening also included a Washington Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors ribbon cutting and ceremonial first bets placed by state representative Republican Bobby Kaufmann on the Iowa Hawkeyes and Democrat David Jacoby on the Chicago Cubs.
