Drought conditions in Iowa lessened from last week. Currently 6.3% of Iowa is in moderate drought, down from 9.5% last week. At this time nearly 41% of Iowa is abnormally dry, down about 12 percentage points from last week. Washington, Keokuk, and Jefferson Counties are completely covered with abnormally dry conditions. Louisa and Henry Counties are mostly in moderate drought with some portions of abnormally dry areas on the western sides of the counties. The southern half of Iowa County and about three-quarters of Johnson County are abnormally dry. Mostly sunny skies are expected this weekend with a chance for showers Monday.
