August 27th marks one year since the doors opened at the Kalona Community Center YMCA. Amy Schulte, CEO of the Washington County YMCA tells Kalona City Administrator Ryan Schlaubaugh that in the year since the facility opened, more than 47,000 people have scanned in and used the building. Schlaubaugh says that the number of people within the Kalona community that are in some way involved in the YMCA is impressive. “Roughly 46% of residents in the city of Kalona are engaged in the YMCA in participation and membership which is outstanding. It’s exciting to see those numbers. We are excited to see what the next year brings in participation, membership and programming from the Y.”
