The annual Gatorade Scrimmage was held at Case Field last night with Washington welcoming Muscatine to town in a tune-up for the regular season.
Each team had three series of 12 plays offensively and after giving up two early scores, the Demon defense buckled down and kept the Muskies in check the rest of the night. Head Coach James Harris told KCII Sports he liked how his defense responded after the first series. “We started out a little slow and they did some neat motion with tricky things. We started bringing a little more pressure in the next couple series so that was helpful for us. We were flat to start, but then started to fly around and get after it.” Highlights offensively included a 38-yard touchdown pass from Luke Turner to Zac Stout and a 50-yard reception from Turner to Ethan Hunt. Wyatt Stout had the majority of the rushes in the backfield including breaking one out for 37 yards.
