Washington received about an inch of rain Sunday night into Monday according to the National Weather Service. Columbus Junction received 1.3 inches of rain overnight into Monday morning. Near Fort Madison about 2.5 inches fell overnight. Washington County Emergency Management Coordinator Marissa Reisen reminds people when there’s heavy rain and water covered streets to never go into a flooded road on foot or in your vehicle, “If it’s standing water it only takes about two feet of water to float your car. And if there’s a current with that water as little as six inches can move your vehicle.”
Partly sunny skies are expected the rest of the week with high temperatures in the upper 70’s mostly, with a chance to rise up into the 80’s Thursday. There’s another chance for about a quarter of an inch of rain Friday night, listen to KCII for weather updates.
