It was a successful start to a new volleyball season for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks Monday in Keota. The Hawks stormed to the tournament title, going 3-0 on the night, sweeping all three opponents in straight sets. The Golden Hawks beat Keota, Highland  and Lone Tree en route to the title. After the matches, first year head coach Sherry Evans, talked about her team’s night. “I like with every single game we gave 100% effort. With each game we kept improving, our tempo was great. Leadership was great, communication and energy on the bench. Cassidy Hershberger playing right side, her court presence was great. Tori Boyse was great with her blocking and Landry Pacha stepping in at setter.”

After the tournament title, Mid-Prairie is 3-0 on the year as they get ready to meet Washington on Wednesday at Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman. Keota was 0-2 at their home tournament, dropping matches to Mid-Prairie and Highland. Lone Tree went 2-1 on the night beating Tri-County and English Valleys before falling to Mid-Prairie.
