The volleyball season kicked off last night at WACO High School and the Warriors placed second at their home meet.

WACO stormed through their pool play beating Columbus (21-12, 21-14), Pekin (18-21, 21-11, 15-9), and Wapello (21-12, 21-17). They then advanced to the title game to play #5 in class 2A Van Buren and gave them all they could handle, but fell in three sets (18-25, 25-15, 10-15). Leading WACO on the day included Morgan Graber with 33 kills, Laney Graber with 78 assists, Aubri Garnsey with 44 digs, and Lindsey Roth connected on all 20 serve attempts. In addition to losing to the Warriors, Columbus dropped a match to Pekin (10-21, 13-21) and Wapello (14-21, 13-21). Sigourney lost their three matches to Centerville (12-21, 17-21), Van Buren (8-21, 7-21), and West Burlington (15-21, 12-21).

The Warriors start the year 3-1, Columbus 0-3, and the Savages 0-3.
