The City of Riverside is taking steps toward safety and uniformity by making changes to city ordinances regarding speed limits. A study performed by the Iowa Department of Transportation along Highway 22 in town showed three areas, of the seven tested, had vehicles traveling on average faster than the posted speed limit. The council voted to set the speed limits for the corporate section of Highway 22 at 25 miles per hour. The current speed limits were set in 1986. The change to 25 mph will take place later in 2019 when it is adopted with the other updates to the city’s Code of Ordinances.
