The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has opened a new location to better serve the county. The department now has a satellite office in the Kalona Community Center. The space, on the second floor of the complex, serves as a location for officers to handle tasks such as paperwork, without having to travel to the Washington office. Washington County Sheriff Jared Schneider describes the goal of the office. “Basically the way I look at this room is, that it’s an extension of the squad room in the Sheriff’s Office in Washington. There’s no other services that will provided here. It’s working space for our patrol division to get their job done more efficiently. This is not the place to go if you need to report a crime, you need to use 9-1-1 or the non-emergency number to do that.”

Deputies have already begun using the facility. The space includes 24-7 access to the building via key card entry, security monitors, a pair of computer workstations and an interview room.
