Mid-Prairie’s football game will have extra meaning for those in attendance tonight. Mid-Prairie is holding their annual Armed Forces night this evening when they take on the Pekin Panthers. The football team and crowd will recognize all veterans and military service people prior to kickoff at 6:45 p.m. Mid-Prairie head football coach Pete Cavanagh talked about what the evening means to him, his staff and players, “It’s just one little thing we can try to do to recognize the people in the community that sacrifice a lot more than we do on a daily basis. We encourage those veterans and active duty personnel to come out tonight so we can recognize them. We are going to have Caleb Runquist as our honorary captain. He was a captain for us a few years back and has been in the service for the last few years, he is back in the community. It’s just one way that we can those men and women who have done so much for our country and community and thank them.”
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. between the Panthers and Golden Hawks at Dwight G. Sattler Field in Wellman. You can hear all of the action live on AM 1380, FM 102.5 and KCIIradio.com, beginning with the Washington HyVee pregame show at 6:30 p.m.
