If a tournament title over the weekend wasn’t a loud enough statement for the Winfield-Mt. Union volleyball team they surely made one last night in their Southeast Iowa Super Conference opener mowing down Pekin in three sets.
The Wolves won a thrilling first set 25-23 and then cruised the rest of the way with a 25-11 victory in set two and a 25-14 dagger in the third. Jenna Buffington continues to produce with 22 kills and now has 77 on the year that ranks third in class 1A. Kayla Edwards had 36 assists and Jami Wilkerson had 16 digs and 15 of 15 serving. Kyndal Townsley chipped in with 13 digs.
The Wolves keep rolling and move to 6-2 and 1-0 in the league. They get back on the court Tuesday hosting Wapello.
