The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk cross country team travels west today for the annual Central College Invitational in Pella. The Mid-Prairie girls enter today’s meet ranked No. 1 in class 2A in the latest poll from the Iowa High School Track Coaches Association. The Golden Hawks won the small school division of the Cedar Rapids Prairie meet last Saturday with Marie Hostetler defending her individual championship at the event. Hostetler is currently ranked No. 1 in class 2A in the state’s individual rankings. Mitzi Evans is also ranked 14th in the individual poll.
The Mid-Prairie boys enter action off of a fifth place finish at Prairie. Mid-Prairie is ranked No. 15 in this week’s class 2A poll. The Golden Hawks were paced by Thadeus Shetler in 15th place. Other teams joining the Golden Hawks today in Pella include AC-GC, Baxter, Bondurant-Farrar, Collins-Maxwell, Eddyville-Blakesburg, Gilbert, Glenwood, Knoxville, Lynnville-Sully, Mount Pleasant, Nevada, North Polk, Norwalk, Oskaloosa, Prairie City-Monroe, Pella Christian and Pella. Action begins at 9:30a.m. and continues all day at Central College.
