The Winfield-Mt. Union volleyball team has put the Southeast Iowa Super Conference on notice with an impressive 6-2 start to the season.
Last week the Wolves traveled to West Branch and came home with a tournament title after going 4-1. That was the first time in school history the Wolves won the West Branch tournament and it came after a dramatic three set match against the Bears in the championship. This week’s JET Physical Therapy Volleyball Athlete of the Week Jenna Buffington told KCII Sports the feeling after winning that game was something she won’t soon forget. “It had to be one of the best feelings. I know it is just the beginning of the season but it was pretty amazing knowing we were apart of the first team to win at West Branch. When that last point hit the ground it was crazy and we were all jumping up and down. It was an amazing feeling and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”
Buffington and the Wolves get back on the court Tuesday against Wapello.
