Highland Huskies are celebrating Homecoming this week. Festivities include themed dress-up days each day this week, a parade, boom night, Husky Olympics, and the game Friday followed by the dance. Students on the court this year include: Alyssa Brase, Makala Cox, Emma Crossett, Nayeli Jimenez, Kaylee Rath, Cole Adamson, Jarrett Brown, Matt Butler, Grant Colbert, and Zack Lasek.
Traci Vonnahme tells KCII News that Boom Night on Wednesday will have a new look this year in Riverside, “We’re going to start the night at about 5:30 p.m. our Highland Huskies boys’ basketball and Highland Huskies wrestling team, they’re going to be selling a meal out of the concession stand at the Riverside ball field. We kind of thought that we’ve got a bunch of kids coming from practices, and you know parents are coming home scrambling. So we thought it’d be a nice little fundraiser for both of those good programs at Highland. We’re wanting everyone to come up a little bit early, grab supper, grab a spot in the park and then they’ll be able to watch the parade and rest of Boom Night. And then we’re going to kind of flow into Boom Night after the parade, that’s going to start at 6:30 p.m. And then kind of these are tentative times, but at about 7 o’clock Boom Night is going to begin and it’s going to be a little bit different this year: we’re going to do everything up there at Hall Park at the stage area this year for our Boom Night program.”
Friday on the football field the Huskies take on Lisbon. The homecoming dance for students will be held after the football game, from 9:30-11:30 p.m. Friday.
