Aesthetic changes are popping up around Kalona as the city changes its signage. In the spring, city workers undertook the job of replacing all of the street signs, road signs, yield and stop signs in town. The old signs that were in use were losing their reflectivity and becoming hard to see at night. The replacement signs are more reflective. The street signs, also called blades, that designate street names, include quilt blocks, a Kalona signature. The project is expected to be complete by the end of September.
