A Washington man is going to prison for up to 10 years following a cocaine deal. According to the Washington County Attorney’s Office, on September 13th 28-year-old Deon Johnson, Jr. was sentenced to prison for selling cocaine. In October 2018, Johnson was selling cocaine on South B Avenue in Washington. He was charged with two counts of delivery of cocaine, a class C felony. He was arrested in March and then posted bond.
While on pretrial supervision with the Iowa Department of Corrections, Johnson was arrested in May for witness tampering for making threats against a person he thought would be a witness against him. He was released without bail. On August 11th, he was arrested for trespass and public intoxication. He has been in jail since. The Washington County Drug Task Force, Washington Police Department, and Washington County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the case.
