A former teacher with a Master’s degree has added another master award to her resume. Rosemary Pacha was named one of four recipients of the 2019 Iowa Master Farm Homemaker awards. Pacha, who worked alongside her late-husband Gerald on their family’s century farm, was presented the award by Wallaces Farmer magazine. Pacha says it was exciting to be recognized, “Very humbling, it was very humbling. To listen to each of the four ladies that received the awards, and even yourself. Sometimes I worried before I went even about what they were going to say. They glamorize it I think, but it was really nice.”

Pacha has worn many hats on the family farm, that has corn, soybeans, livestock, and conservation practices in place. She shared some of her favorite things to do, “Personally, probably helping my husband, making sure that the books balanced, that kind of stuff, mowing the yard, taking him food at night, some late nights, taking treats, that kind of thing. Apple pie bars were one of his favorite treats.” The farm is still operated by family. The program began in 1928.
