Construction of Ainsworth’s new fire station is underway. In May, Ainsworth was able to secure a $330,000 Washington County Riverboat Foundation grant to help fund the $470,000 building. Ainsworth Fire Chief Waylon Schultz tells KCII News that citizens should expect the same standard of service even during construction, “We moved our trucks out to the Washington County Conservation maintenance building. It’s about a mile outside of town. So really the public should see no difference in our response time.”
Currently, the department operates out of a building originally used as a gas station and tire repair shop. Over the years, steady increases in personnel and equipment have seen the department outgrow their current facilities.
